Profenofos Technical (CAS NO : 41198-08-7)

Profenofos is an amber colored organophosphate technical-grade insecticide with a strong garlic-like odor preferred in crop protection. Profenofos is also known as (Curacron, Selecron, Profenophos) by suppliers. Profenofos inhibits acetylcholinesterase, disrupting nerve function in insects. Used primarily on cotton and vegetable crops, profenofos controls lepidopteran pests and mites both through direct contact and ingestion. Formulated as an EC or TC, it provides rapid pest control in cotton fields and other row crops, protecting yield and quality. Profenafos is Stable under neutral to mildly acidic pH; hydrolyzes in alkaline pH (DT₅₀ ~14 h at pH 9).

Have Questions About Profenofos Technical?
We've Got Answers.

It inhibits acetylcholinesterase (AChE), an essential enzyme for neural signal termination in insects, leading to paralysis and death.

No, Profenofos acts locally. It is a non-systemic pesticide that remains on plant surfaces and is absorbed primarily by pests through direct exposure.

It undergoes moderate degradation in soil with a half-life of 7–10 days under aerobic conditions. Rapid hydrolysis occurs under alkaline conditions.

Yes. Its organophosphate mechanism offers rotation value against pyrethroid- or neonicotinoid-resistant pests.

Use of protective clothing and respiratory protection is recommended. Avoid drift and ensure re-entry intervals per local regulatory norms.
