What is Cyanation?

Cyanation is a chemical process that introduces a cyano group (-CN) into a molecule, typically forming nitriles. It involves substituting a functional group (commonly halides, aryl halides, or alkyl halides) with a cyanide ion, usually sourced from inorganic or organic cyanides like KCN, NaCN, or trimethylsilyl cyanide (TMSCN).
