Tungsten metal (CAS NO : 7440-33-7)

Source high-purity Tungsten Metal (CAS 7440-33-7) from Scimplify, one of the trusted global tungsten metal suppliers and manufacturers. Tungsten (W), also known as wolfram, is a refractory metal with the highest melting point of any metal at around 3,410 degrees Celsius. We supply tungsten metal as high-purity powder across a range of particle sizes and apparent densities, with FSSS-controlled grades from standard purity through 99.9 percent and above for demanding electronic and aerospace applications. Particle size and purity directly determine the density, grain structure, and performance of the wire, pressed and sintered parts, and carbide produced downstream.Supplied primarily as high-purity tungsten powder, it is the metallic foundation for tungsten carbide, high-density alloys, and a wide range of electronic and high-temperature components.Tungsten metal sits at the downstream end of the tungsten value chain. It is produced by hydrogen reduction of tungsten oxide, which is itself derived from ammonium paratungstate, and it is the direct feedstock for tungsten carbide and tungsten mill products. This lets buyers source tungsten powder alongside Tungsten Carbide, Tungsten Oxide (WO3), and Ammonium Paratungstate from a single compliant global manufacturer. As a renowned tungsten metal manufacturer and supplier, our material meets global regulatory standards, including REACH (EU) registration and RMI conflict-free mineral sourcing

Chemical Properties & Specifications

Applications of Tungsten metal

Hard Metals

The largest downstream use. Tungsten powder is blended with carbon and carburised into tungsten carbide (WC), the basis of cemented-carbide cutting tools, drill bits, dies, and wear parts. Powder particle size controls the grain size and performance of the finished carbide.

Lighting & Electronics

Processed into wire and rod for lamp filaments, high-temperature heating elements, electron-tube and vacuum-tube electrodes, and X-ray tube anodes, drawing on tungsten's high melting point, electrical conductivity, and dimensional stability

Welding

Pure and doped tungsten (ceriated, lanthanated, zirconiated) is used for gas tungsten arc welding electrodes, valued for high-temperature stability, arc consistency, and long service life.

Aerospace & Defense

Feedstock for tungsten heavy alloys (W-Ni-Fe, W-Ni-Cu) used in balance weights and counterweights, rotor and turbine components, rocket nozzles, vibration-damping tooling, and kinetic-energy penetrators, where maximum mass in minimal volume is required.

Electronics & Semiconductors

Used for sputtering targets, interconnect metallization, and thin films in semiconductor and display manufacturing, as well as electrical contacts and tungsten-copper composites, additive manufacturing, and metal injection moulding

Have Questions About Tungsten metal?
We've Got Answers.

Tungsten metal is most commonly supplied as powder, which is the primary commercial form for powder metallurgy. The powder is pressed and sintered, or further processed, into wire, rod, sheet, carbide, and finished components.

From standard purity through 99.9 percent and above, with FSSS-controlled particle sizes selected to match your powder metallurgy, carbide, or electronic process.

Downstream. It is produced by hydrogen reduction of tungsten oxide (derived from APT) and is the direct feedstock for tungsten carbide and tungsten mill products such as wire and electrodes.
