Mercury Emission Control
Coal-fired power plants, applied to the coal or injected into the furnace. During combustion, releases bromine which reacts with elemental mercury to form mercuric bromide (HgBr₂), which is more easily captured by downstream pollution control equipment (scrubbers/baghouses)
